THE LEVIN COLLECTION

                            PALLADIN - SHANGHAI

Starting in the mid 1960’s, Las Vegas Hotel Designer Gene Levin began trips to Hong Kong and China in search of objects of
Art, Furniture and other items for his hotel projects. It was in 1965 that he stuck up a friendship and business relationship with Mr.
Liu, owner of the renowned antique store King Po Chai on what was Hong Kong’s main area for Chinese Antiques and Curios
after 1949, Upper Lascar Row. Between 1965-1971 Levin procured hundreds of pieces of Chinese Porcelain and Objects of Art
for his private collection. In the 80’s the collection was put into storage where it remained for almost 2 decades. Gene Levin
passed on his love and appreciation for fine art, especially Chinese art to his son Adam who began his journey of collecting
when he first arrived in Beijing in 1998 as a chef for Shangri-La Hotels. As Adam was handed down the extensive collection
compiled by his father decades earlier, he began to make purchases and acquisitions at auctions in Hong Kong and around
the world. Today, Adam (now known as Datudou or The Big Potato) has opened up a chain of American Steakhouses in
China. He has expanded his art collection to include Fine Paintings from the likes of Picasso, Dali and more. His newest project
is a Museum Restaurant in Shanghai’s historic French Concession that will be opening in 2020. To help acquire new pieces and
fund the new project, Adam is offering a number of quality lots from The Levin Collection in Part 1 of the sale.
