Provenance: Private Collection bought the vase in the 40's.
The Guan-type ware FangHu is of curved rectangular form, body glazed in light celadon and crackle patterns, two rectangular lug handles attached to the neck, bottom bears six character QIANLONG reign mark. A Daoguang version was included in the exhibition Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, Art Gallery, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1983, cat. no. 80. The National Palace Museum retains four 18th century Guan-type vases of the same form but bearing lengthy Qianlong imperial inscriptions and are illustrated in Obtaining Refined Enjoyment: The Qianlong Emperor's Taste in Ceramics, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 2011, cat. nos. 83-86. 瓶形制周正,挺拔大方,口呈四方倭角形,颈部对饰双贯耳,腹部饰两个杏圆凸起,通体施仿哥釉,釉色肥腴莹润,开片清晰分明,每每视之,古趣盎然。底以青花书写“大清乾隆年制”。
